I have lived most of my life with anxiety; I know on a deep and personal level how challenging it can be. Truth be told, most of us experience the symptoms of anxiety at one time or another. Our bodies tensing up. Getting caught in loops of worrying. Feeling frozen, unable to make even simple decisions. After trying seemingly everything, I learned that anxiety can't just be “cured” or “healed”. I stopped trying to “fix” myself and instead learned to accept my anxiety as a part of me.
What it took was yoga.
I took my first yoga class at 19, not necessarily to deal with anxiety. What happened was a life-changing shift. I learned how drawing awareness into my breath could get me out of my anxious thinking mind and draw my attention down into my body. I could actually listen to all that was going on inside of me. Over time, this helped me understand myself better, discover the sources and triggers of my anxiety, and inspired me to keep learning about natural ways I could use to ease my anxious mind.
I have been teaching yoga and natural healing practices now for almost 20 years. My life's work is helping individuals like me learn tools to manage anxiety.
I became a certified teacher in the Hatha tradition in 2006. I have continued my education with certifications in Vinyasa, Restorative, Yin, Feel Focus Flow, Trauma Informed Yoga, Nidra Meditation, and EFT (Tapping or Emotional Freedom Technique). I strive to provide a calm and safe space to explore, recharge, and heal deeply from within. I encourage students to always honor their body in the moment and to make the practice their own. I am known for my soothing voice, my ability to hold space and listen, and for my calming presence.
With all of the mindful practices I have studied, I have avoided prescription meds, calmed my nervous system tremendously and developed a “tool belt” of practices to prevent anxiety and deal with it when it arises.
My mission is to help individuals who feel stressed, anxious, and overwhelmed by providing yoga tools and habits to help them release nervous tension, rewire their nervous systems, quiet their minds, and get a more restful sleep.
